WUM COUNCIL BRAINSTORMS ON CHILD PROTECTION POLICY


The Wum town Hall played host to a two day workshop on the protection of the child. Organized by the Wum Council, the workshop benefits from the technical support of the Socio-Economic Empowerment of Person with Disability, SEEPD Program of the CBC Health Services.

The workshop aimed at providing technical support in setting up a functional child protection committee within the Wum municipality, to prevent and intervene in matters of child abuse.

Opening the workshop, Mrs. Berthy Bikuchung Cheng Edickson, Secretary General of the Wum Council, on behalf of the Lord Mayor, welcomed the participants, and urged them to pay keen attention so as to come out with a policy that will ensure proper protection and safeguarding of our children so as to have continuity in leadership since they are the leaders of today.
Participants are councilors, stakeholders in the education sector, medical doctors, legal experts, women empowerment and the family, social affairs among others.
The workshop is expected to provide technical skills in order to enable participants to take concrete measures, to promote the protection and safeguarding of children.
