F.C MADRID WINS 2017 WUM COUNCIL'S UNITY CUP

Madrid FC of Hausa Quarter Wum is this year’s winner of the Wum Council Unity Cup tournament after a 1-0 win over Zenith at the finals played in the Wum Municipal Stadium on Sunday December 17, 2017 and presided over by the SDO for Mechum, Kamga Charles.
 Madrid FC  went home with the first prize of 290 000 frs, while Zenith FC took home 190,000 frs, with third 3rd and 4th teams receiving 75,000 and 50,000 frs respectively. There were also prizes for the best player (Che Thierry), best goalkeeper (Sapiono Duada), highest goal scorer (Aji Yannick with 13 goals) and the best young home grown talent (Njiamang Yannick)
 Dighambong Anthony, Mayor of Wum reminded the youths of his municipality that the aim of the competition is to bring youths together to celebrate the end of year festivities while as the same time promoting talents. He called on the elites of Menchum to help revive Menchum Eagles, once the pride of the people of Menchum. He advised the winner and losers to show a spirit of fair play because in any competition, there are always winners and loser. He hoped such a spirit will be the watch words for the next edition that comes up in 2018.
The Wum Council Unity Tournament is in its 3rd edition. A total of 12 teams divided into two pools participated in this year’s competition with the first four in each pool qualifying for the quarter finals, played in two legs. This year’s competition started on October 12, 2017 with a total of 45 matches played and 169 goals scored.

The Wum Council Unity Tournament has become a huge attraction for the municipality with youths, women and men a like taking keen interest in the competition and following the progress of their teams piously. Each game day, fans of the various teams poured into the Wum Municipal Stadium, attracting petit traders, commercial bike riders and others associated business to flourish, an in a small way stimulating the economy.

ON YOUR MARKS...GET READY.....

           The countdown for the third edition of the Wum Council Unity Sports Tournament has just begun. A preparatory meeting to that effect has just been held so as to set the ground works for various teams to showcase their talents and rush to grab a share of the ONE MILLION CFA FRANCS of the coveted yearly municipal sports fiesta. This year, activities shall center around Football boys, Handball girls and a Cross country race. The competition shall run from October 8th to December 17th 2017. Rules and regulations were put in place, the insurance policy read out, security challenges trashed and teams like Zenith F.C, Malabo F.C and Madrid F.C have completed their registration, the organizing committee put in place for a smooth organisation of this years sports festival.

Dubai FC of Naikom wins Dighambong Anthony's 2017 tournament

Jalingo FC of Upkwa suffered a 1-2 defeat in the hands of Dubai City FC of Naikom at the finals of Mayor Dighambong Anthony's football tournament at GBHS Wum.
The S.D.O for Menchum, Kamga Charles, graced the 9th edition of Mayor Dighambong Anthony's football tournament at GBHS Wum as he attended the finals.
A goal apiece from Dubai City FC's strikers, who was led by Jalingo FC since the 5th minute of play,ensured  Dubai City FC sealed its victory , leaving Jalingo FC to leak their wounds.
Jalingo FC started it stronger at a capacity filled GBHS Wum playground. But Dubai FC soon regrouped and found their rhythm, pushing Jalingo FC to the foreground.Dubai FC later made it 1-1.
The game was put beyond the lameJalingo FC shortly after the recess when Dubai FC's strikers combined their efforts and scored the second goal few minutes to the end of the game.

End of the journey for Dighambong Anthony sports competition at ATUE

G.S Atue sports complex Thursday 31st August, 2017 played host to hundreds of Atue and Menteng sons and daughters from across the two villages, Befang, Modelle and even Benakuma.The activity that assembled them was the 2nd edition of a football tournament organised by the Mayor of Wum Council, Dighambong Anthony. The handball trophy was lifted by the ladies of Atue park who beat Kuzama 7-5 while in football,Kuzama beat park boys 4-3 after post match penalties.

MAYOR DIGHAMBONG'S UNITY CUP...SUNSHINE FC WINS AGAIN IN UPKWA

Sunshine FC of Upkwa pulled a sensational victory over Jalingo FC, in the final of Dighambong Anthony's 2017 football tournament in Upkwa zone, cruising along with a 2-1 score line to grab the trophy. It was not only the score line, but the manner of the victory that caught the close to 2000 spectators in Upkwa by surprise. Sunshine FC engaged Jalingo FC with sustained pressure, attacking with fast pace at the wings, forcing their Opponents to maintain a high line up field in an attempt to counter the runs. fans and lovers of football in the municipality were served this plate of “footballing supper”.
 Speaking on behalf of the teams and populations of Upkwa, the general organiser enumerated a lot of challenges encountered during the tournament, while calling on the donor to increase the cash prize while promising to raise the number of teams from 5 to 8 next championship season.Representing the cup donor, Mme Mbei Clementine congratulated the organisers, all teams and football lovers, for their sense of discipline as no incident was recorded during the tournament. She ended her intervention by breaking the news of the release of our detained brothers, fathers and teachers, hence, paving the way to school resumption.
